Grok Bot Setup & Download Guide
Start with the official Grok Bot download, sign in to the account that has access, and give your first Bot one small job. This guide takes you from installation to a result you can check.
Independent guide based on linked official documentation. Examples below are suggested workflows, not product benchmark results.
1. Check your Grok Bot access
Grok Bot is a desktop and mobile agent with a persistent cloud computer. It can work with websites, files and tools while your laptop is closed. Bots on the same account share that computer, including its files and browser logins. Product overview ↗
The August 26 access expansion includes Cursor Pro, Pro+, Ultra, SuperGrok, Plus, Heavy and self-serve Cursor Teams. Some getting-started pages still omit the entry plans; check the current plan screen before buying anything. Access expansion ↗

2. Download Grok Bot for your device
Use the official Grok Bot download page ↗ and its additional download options. Match the installer to your operating system and processor.
| Device | Choose |
|---|---|
| Mac | Apple silicon or Intel; open the DMG and move the app to Applications. |
| Windows | x64 or Arm64 installer. |
| Linux | x64 or Arm64; DEB, RPM or AppImage for your distribution. |
These platform options come from the installation documentation ↗. On a Mac, About This Mac identifies your chip. On Linux, uname -m helps identify the architecture.
Grok Bot on iPhone and Android
The companion apps require iOS 18 or later, or Android 9 or later. iPad is not supported at launch. Use the store links in the official mobile guide ↗. Signed-in devices share your Bots and conversations; use desktop for creating and editing routines.
3. Sign in and create your first Bot
Open the app, start sign-in and complete the Cursor account flow in your browser. Return to the desktop app after authentication. During onboarding, selecting the tools you use does not connect their accounts. Getting started ↗
Use New in the sidebar, then Create new agent. Give the Bot a name and edit its profile to describe its job. Create and manage Bots ↗
For a first experiment, we suggest a narrow role such as “Public product researcher.” Define what a finished answer should contain before adding more tools. You can also start from a shared template.
4. Connect only the tools your task needs
Open Settings → Plugins, choose a connector and complete its authentication. In chat, use @ to attach a connector. For a website login, open Agent Computer and take control for passwords or verification codes instead of pasting them into the conversation. Connected tools and browser sessions are shared across your account’s Bots. Computer and apps ↗
Our first-task example needs only public pages. Keeping that first run small makes it easier to tell whether a problem comes from the instructions, the website or a missing connection.
5. Run a task with a clear finish line
Try this suggested prompt after replacing the bracketed inputs with three public URLs:
Compare the monthly prices on [URL 1], [URL 2] and [URL 3]. Return a table with product, plan, displayed currency, monthly price, source URL and date checked. Mark information you cannot find as unknown. Use public pages only. Stop if a page requires an account or a purchase. Finish with three differences that matter to a solo user.
Check each price against its source, confirm that monthly and annual billing were not mixed, and inspect the unknowns. If the result misses a column, correct the instructions and repeat on one page. Save the working instructions as a skill before scheduling a routine.
Grok Bot setup troubleshooting
- Sign-in does not return to the app: leave the app open, finish the browser flow, then switch back manually.
- Access is missing: confirm the signed-in account and plan. Organization settings may require an administrator’s help.
- Computer setup stalls: allow provisioning time, retry, restart the app and check for updates before considering recovery.
The official troubleshooting guide ↗ gives the recovery order. Legacy Privacy Mode is incompatible with the required cloud storage; review organization policy with your administrator before changing it. Avoid resetting a computer as your first troubleshooting step.
